Providing innovative solutions that improve medical outcomes for senior citizens is one of the fastest-growing areas in the healthcare industry. As technology continues to evolve and new programs emerge, it becomes increasingly important that seniors across the country are kept informed through education. Access to modern technologies promotes cognitive health, enriches interpersonal communication, and facilitates long-term benefits such as reduced symptoms of depression.
AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton—two organizations at the forefront of this movement—partnered with Betabox to spread awareness and drive adoption of their respective senior-focused programs.
What Were AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton’s Desired Outcomes?
In the fall, Betabox collaborated with AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton to deliver a week-long program in high-visibility locations around Washington, D.C. The goal was to educate seniors—and potential AARP members—about how emerging technologies like Virtual and Mixed Reality can support brain health pillars such as interpersonal connection, nutrition, mobility, and relaxation.
Participants engaged with two key demonstrations inside the co-branded AARP & Booz Allen Hamilton Betabox:
• A Microsoft HoloLens simulation, illustrating how the technology can enhance doctor/patient communication and health outcomes.
• An Oculus Rift experience, showing how Virtual Reality could serve as an engaging alternative to traditional physical exercise.
Both experiences were facilitated by staff from AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton, who explained how their organizations are using these technologies to improve the health and well-being of older adults. By the end of the week, over 300 seniors had participated in the program.
How Did Betabox Help?
Partnering with Betabox enabled AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton to expand awareness, generate interest, and drive adoption of their programs. The Betabox team ensured that the technology experiences were approachable, engaging, and deeply connected to the real-life challenges seniors face.
In addition to delivering hands-on experiences, follow-up resources were distributed to help participants remain engaged and informed in their journey toward maintaining a healthy cognitive lifestyle. Leveraging Betabox’s mobile infrastructure allowed both partners to reach more seniors across the region, ultimately accelerating adoption of the technologies introduced during the demonstrations.
What Did Betabox Deliver?
AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton utilized a suite of services from the Betabox Boost Platform to execute the program successfully. In addition to co-branding the Betabox experience, our team provided the following:
• Onsite operational support from two Betabox staff members
• Technology setup and facilitation of daily programming
• Coordination of transportation logistics to ensure timely delivery and pickup
• Seamless execution across multiple locations throughout the week
What Were the Results?
Over the course of the week, more than 300 seniors were engaged at various locations throughout Washington, D.C. Program facilitators from AARP and Booz Allen Hamilton reported high levels of satisfaction, noting not only the senior engagement but also the brand exposure and media attention the program generated.
