Betabox began with a mission to address the inequitable distribution of STEM opportunities and hands-on learning experiences—experiences that launched many of us into technology careers.
In 2015, we placed a few 3D printers inside a shipping container and brought it directly to schools, creating the first Onsite Field Trip. From these humble beginnings, we've grown to partner with hundreds of school districts, impacting thousands of students.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognized that sparking initial STEM interest wasn't enough to create lasting change. Our customers repeatedly asked, “What's next?” This led us to expand our offerings beyond field trips.
Today, Betabox provides a comprehensive suite of STEM solutions, including Classbox.com, Projects, and Pathbuilder career tools. Together, these resources form a complete ecosystem designed to build STEM instructional capacity and create transformative learning experiences, even in the most under-resourced communities.
The mission for a long time at Betabox has been to spark and sustain hands-on learning at K-12 schools. But the deeper why behind that really is when you take a step back, what we think is important is to future-proof the concept of the American Dream for students growing up today and for communities that are often left behind by revolutions.
Through our mobile labs and on-site programs, we help schools overcome barriers to accessing the resources and tools needed to engage students in practical, project-based learning. Whether it’s coding, robotics, or environmental science, our programs immerse students in real-world challenges that build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ask any engineer, scientist, or technologist, and they’ll likely recall the moment their passion was first sparked—maybe it was the first time they saw a computer, looked through a telescope, or heard encouraging words from a teacher. At Betabox, we exist to create those unforgettable moments for students everywhere—experiences that ignite curiosity and lay the foundation for future careers in technology.
We believe everyone connected to the education ecosystem—higher ed, community colleges, industry partners, STEM employers, foundations, banks, and parents—has a role to play in ensuring that all students, no matter their zip code, have an equal opportunity to pursue careers in technology. Helping students understand how technology will shape their future is essential to preparing them for it. If you’re interested in partnering with us or have a question or idea, we’d love to hear from you.
Our dedicated team consists of educators, engineers, and industry professionals who are united by one goal: to make STEM education accessible to all.
Industries and institutions that rely on a strong K–12 education system can join our stakeholder network to fund and support the schools that matter most to them.
We show up fully and obsess over every detail until it shines. We work with engaged people who care about their impact and strive to leave things better than they found them.
We’re relentless problem solvers who use what we have to move forward, adapting as we go. If we don’t know it, we learn it; if we can’t buy it, we build it; and if it doesn’t exist, we invent it.
We aim to communicate clearly, respectfully, and in a way that fits the context and audience. We listen actively, own our part in misunderstandings, and balance honesty with humility and respect.
We actively support one another by using our individual strengths and speaking up when help is needed. Built on trust, our teamwork allows us to move fast, stay balanced, and grow together—because we believe going far means going together.
